Responsabilities
Under the responsibility of the survey assistant, the forestry worker actively participates in the sampling of the plots of various forests in the assigned region.
Specifically, you will:
• Collect samples from the forest using pole shears;
• Operate a brush, saw and pruner to clean forest roads as required;
• Ensure the maintenance and proper operation of the devices, equipment or vehicles used;
• Use GPS daily for data recording;
• Commute by truck or ATV.
Remuneration and working conditions offered by SOPFIM
- Different types of work schedules totaling 80 hours every 2 weeks;
- An hourly wage of $21.02;
- Employment in effect from May to early November;
- Possibility to renew your employment each year;
Job Requirements
- Hold a valid Class 5 driver’s licence;
- Degree completed or in progress in forestry or any other relevant field or relevant forestry work experience;
- Have significant experience driving a vehicle in the forest (truck and ATV).
Skills sought
- Behaviour oriented towards occupational health and safety;
- Knowledge of techniques related to the use of chainsaws and brush cutters is an asset;
- Ability to work in the forest for long periods of time;
- Comfortable with teamwork;
- Knowledge of GPS technology is an asset.
