Several territories are likely to be affected by the spruce budworm. SOPFIM applies specific selection criteria to protect the most threatened private forests.
- The area must be greater than 4 hectares;
- The width of the territory must be greater than 80 metres;
- The tract must be composed of susceptible species (balsam fir, white spruce and Norway spruce);
- The tract must be between 21 and 60 years old;
- Land needs to be developed. (Government subsidized treatments).
